The Official Oath
'I swear (or affirm) that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second, Queen of Canada, Her Heirs and Successors, and that I will faithfully observe the laws of Canada and fulfil my duties as a Canadian citizen.'
What It Means
You're swearing loyalty to the Crown (constitutional role), commitment to Canadian law, and willingness to participate as a citizen.
Affirmation Option
Don't believe in swearing? You can affirm instead. It's legally equivalent but uses secular language.
